Churches can choose the level of competition that’s right for them, depending on the age level and experience of their quizzers.
Gold Competition: The Gold level of competition is for teams composed of 2-6 quizzers who are enrolled in grades 6-12 as of September 1. Gold teams quiz over the entirety of the quiz material. For the 2008-09 season, Gold teams will quiz over the entirety of the Gospel of Mark, with each league meet covering progressively more material (see the Schedule for more information on material covered at each league meet). Only Gold teams are eligible to quiz in national competition.
Silver Competition: The Silver level of competition is for teams composed of 2-6 quizzers who are enrolled in grades 6-12 as of September 1. Silver teams quiz over the Novice material using Novice questions (see below). The Silver level is designed for non-Novice quizzers who may be new to quizzing, or who, because of time constraints, may be unable to compete at the Gold level. Silver teams also work well for some churches who have quizzers spread over a wide range of ages. Silver teams may compete at league and district competition, but not at regional or national competition.
Novice Competition: The Novice level of competition is for teams composed of 2-6 quizzers who are enrolled in grades 6, 7, or 8 as of September 1. Novice quizzers cover a smaller portion of the quiz material. For the 2008-09 quiz year, the Novice level will cover Mark chapters 1-10, with each league meet covering progressively more material (see the Schedule for more information on material covered at each league meet). Novice teams may advance to regional, but not to national, competition.
Depending on the number of Silver and Novice teams in a league, Silver and Novice teams may, at the discretion of the coordinator, quiz each other.
